Vessel Painting
Our client was under short time constraints and finding it difficult to agree on a solution that enabled their tanks to resume production after refurbishment, by adopting the most effective solution to minimise disruption. We were also, presented with a further logistical challenge of the work-site being over 8000 miles away from the UK shores. The project scope included internal decontamination of all tanks and the application of specialist protective coatings designed to protect the subframe against further damage.
Project Summary
The project was managed by our specialist painting team, and with the help of our supply chain, all of the equipment and materials were either shipped or flown to the island. Historically only 50% of the tanks were ever worked upon, but we had a robust method and planning in place to achieve all five in one period.
Value Engineering
We chose to use MEWPs on most of the work with some system scaffold for task and areas inaccessible to mechanical equipment which gave saving on cost and time. We also determined the commencement date, which assisted our application of the specialist coating and reduced the risk of delayed sea freight.
