Marine Hotel
The historic Marine Hotel originally opened in 1894 has recently undergone an extensive interior and exterior refurbishment transformation. With the iconic Ayrshire property overlooking The Royal Troon Golf Club staying open throughout the works, the project was carefully planned with phases to minimise any disruption caused to guests.
Project Summary
Enigma worked closely with primary contractor John Fulton Plumbing & Roofing throughout the renovation works. By providing safe external access for the refurbishment of windows, roofs and stonework. With various engineering, designs produced utilising traditional tube & fitting access scaffold implemented to permit restoration works of the building façade. The bespoke designs created by the Enigma in-house team included independent perimeter accesses, customised loading bay, roof saddle designs and bridged area solutions.
Value Engineering
As is common in this environment, the challenge was to leave minimal trace of temporary access upon completion of the works to the hotel exterior façade. To reduce the need for scaffold ties, buttress bays and bracing was utilised. However, when scaffold ties needed installing, they were designed to be fixed into the mortar beds.
The customised loading bay incurred careful design consideration. With the arrangement being supported off the existing roof using a combination of pre-fabricated lattice beams and inverted roof saddles.
