Provision of temporary access solutions to construct two new contemporary apartment blocks within the grounds of a historic Victorian villa that is currently being restored. AMA Construction are specialists in sympathetically converting historic properties and are restoring Torwood House a Victorian villa, the building located in the leafy Edinburgh, Murrayfield district occupies an extensive plot.

The main property will be converted into two spacious four and five-bedroom homes, while the original lodge and coach house will create a further 3-homes. Additionally, two new contemporary pavilion blocks will be constructed within the mature grounds to provide a further 23-contemporary apartments.

Enigma has provided a HAKI System Scaffolding solution for constructing two new five-storey apartment blocks within the grounds of Torwood House. The erected external scaffold structures incorporate loading bays to promote the efficient delivery of materials on-site, during the construction and fit-out project phases. Additionally, Enigma installed three roof saddles and erected a beam scaffold over a neighbours garden to enable the installation works at the adjacent stable blocks to commence. Temporary stairwell handrails have been fitted to the internal scaffolding within the lift shafts to improve safety before the permanent bannisters are installed.

Also, to provide the client with an efficient access/egress package and ensure workers have safe access to their intended working level when on-site, Enigma has installed integrated HAKI staircase towers.

HAKI modular system scaffolding is ideal for new build construction projects and can increase productivity on-site by up to 60% due to the unique quick, simple ‘hook-on’ method of erection. The value of the temporary access provision project is circa £100k.
