Bellsmyre
Demolition of 4 multi-storey block of flats as part of the local regeneration project.
Project Summary
The scaffold was erected in traditional tube and fitting to the full height around the external perimeter of each multi-storey block to provide safe access for asbestos removal. The erection phase for each scaffold took just four weeks, followed by the fitting of shrink-wrap sheeting forming an enclosure for the asbestos removal. Upon completion of the dismantling of the scaffold structure, the tower blocks were then demolished mechanically.
Value Engineering
The requirement to coordinate the hoist and scaffold erect sequence was critical to achieving the ambitious scaffold programme. We devised a solution to utilise hoists enabling the load out of vacant floors within the tower blocks with scaffold materials, ahead of the progressing scaffolding.
